While in Beijing, due to the rapidly developing COVID situation, we had to postpone the 44th AGM Beijing Business Dinner, originally scheduled for November 29th.<\/p>\n Although the COVID situation remains challenging these past weeks, we are glad to see that the central government has made positive steps towards normalization and we are confident that conditions have been more conducive to in-person engagements.<\/span><\/p>\n We are glad to announce the 44th CCBC AGM Business Dinner has been rescheduled for February 16, 2023. While in Beijing, he became interested in xiangsheng [she-ang shung], a revered form of traditional comedic dialogue in China, and was soon appearing on national television under the stage name \u201cDashan.\u201d<\/p>\n Repeated performances to hundreds of millions of television viewers turned \u201cDashan\u201d into a household name across China, and his media career expanded from comedy to dramatic acting to hosting cultural, diplomatic, educational and commercial programs and live events. Over time, Dashan came to be seen as an all-round cultural ambassador between China and the West and as a symbol of finding common ground between cultures, \u201ca foreigner but not an outsider\u201d according to the People\u2019s Daily.<\/p>\n Dashan is the only non-Chinese performer to have appeared four times on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, the largest annual television extravaganza in China with an estimated audience of over 800 million viewers.<\/p>\n Dashan served as Canada\u2019s Team Attach\u00e9 during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and as Canada\u2019s Commissioner General for Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Over time, Dashan came to be seen as an all-round cultural ambassador between China and the West and as a symbol of finding common ground between cultures, \u201ca foreigner but not an outsider\u201d according to the People\u2019s Daily.<\/p>\n Dashan is the only non-Chinese performer to have appeared four times on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, the largest annual television extravaganza in China with an estimated audience of over 800 million viewers.<\/p>\n Dashan served as Canada\u2019s Team Attach\u00e9 during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and as Canada\u2019s Commissioner General for Expo 2010 in Shanghai. In 2006 he was inducted into the Order of Canada, the country\u2019s highest civilian honour. In 2012, Dashan was named \u201cGoodwill Ambassador to China\u201d by Canada\u2019s Prime Minister.
